What is a Backyard Bible Club?

This summer, we’ll be hosting Backyard Bible Clubs – a mini Vacation Bible School hosted by YOU in your own backyard!

2020 Theme

Our theme this year is Concrete and Cranes!

We’ll be learning about Jesus, our strong foundation, and how we can build our faith in Him!

What roles do you need volunteers for?

We need volunteers to HOST and volunteers to HELP. The host just provides the backyard. The helpers will run the program – teach the lesson, lead songs, help with craft time, and serve snack. The host can also be one of the teachers/helpers, if they would like.

How do we know what to do?

All the materials will be provided for you. You will get instructions and scripts of exactly what you need to say/do. Of course, all materials can be modified and adjusted as you see fit to better serve the needs of your specific group.

Can I choose who I volunteer with?

If you have someone in mind you would like to work with let us know! Ideally, we would like families that work together to be in close proximity to each other, location-wise.

How big will the groups be?

Each group will have 3-4 volunteers. The number of kids will be based on how many kids are in the volunteers families AND how many friends and neighbors you invite!

What if it rains?

Since the program is meant to be run outside, it would be dependent on weather. Hosts are not required to invite anyone into their home.

Are parents invited to stay?

Yes! Parents are welcome to do whatever makes them feel most comfortable.

What about COVID requirements?

Since we’ll be outside and in relatively small groups, there are no safety measures we are required to take. However, each person is welcome to take whatever precautions they feel most comfortable with (ie. Wear a mask, social distance, bring their own snack…)

What if I want to do MORE?!

The great thing about Backyard Bible Clubs is the flexibility we have in running them. Each club can be different! Tailor the curriculum and your programming to what works best for your group. If you are looking for more ways to connect with your neighbors and community, you can do so! Your group can have a “closing program’ the last day and invite families out, have a cookout…etc. We just want to get out in our communities and share the love of Jesus.

Next Steps – So now what?!

If you would like to HOST or HELP, you can sign up using the form in Crossroads.

If you would like to participate, once we have all the host families, you can find a location near you and go. Please contact the host to let them know you are planning to come.

Lastly, SPREAD THE WORD. Invite your family, friends, and neighbors, especially those in your community that do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
