Discipleship for All of Life

What Is Discipleship Institute?

Discipleship Institute (DI) is our version of Sunday School. But it’s not your typical Sunday School. Cedar Crest takes seriously the biblical concept of discipleship, which means becoming more like Christ in every facet of our lives. Every DI class is carefully crafted with this purpose in mind.

DI exists to enhance our understanding and practice of biblical discipleship.

2025 SPRING CLASSES

STARTS APRIL 6 | SUNDAYS 8:45AM – 9:45AM

Finding Our Joy in Christ

This 11-week study of the Book of Philippians focuses on key themes of joy, humility, perseverance, and living a life worthy of the gospel.

Pastor Jules Hull, has been a pastor at CCBFC since 2022. He has a passion for people, teaching, and studying. He is the husband of Adrianne Hull and the father of Anthony and Genesis Hull. He is also currently in the process of adoption.

Marriage That Glorifies God

Marriage is continually under attack in our culture. Roughly one in four Christian marriages end in divorce. Married couples often do not see God’s glory as the primary goal for their marriage. However, God is the creator of marriage. His Word, and more explicitly the Gospel, provide us with the foundation we need for a healthy marriage. God is the most important person in our marriages. He created marriage for our good, but it is first for his glory. Most struggles in marriage occur when one or both partners lose sight of that goal and make themselves the goal rather than the glory of God. The Gospel provides the remedy for this problem.

Scott currently serves the church as a Biblical Counselor and a Life Group Leader. He and his wife Debbie have been at Cedar Crest for six years and married for 38 years, and have three sons and four grandchildren. He has a seminary degree in Biblical Counseling and took an early retirement in order to serve in an expanded role here at Cedar Crest. He is passionate about helping believers grow in Christ through the personal and corporate ministry of the Word.

Corporate Worship

In this course, we’ll uncover God’s purpose—as revealed in His Word—for creating us, and his will for fulfilling that purpose in the local church. Together, we’ll gain understanding that helps us to both give the most to, and get the most out of the times we share lifting up the name of Jesus.

Luke Walters

Luke grew up attending Cedar Crest and has been involved in the music ministry since 2007. In the midst of pursuing a degree in Physician’s Assistant Studies, the Lord called him to change directions and pursue ministry full-time. After completing his B.A. in Biology from DeSales, Luke earned an M.A. in Worship Studies from Liberty University. He joined Cedar Crest’s staff in May of 2017 with a passion to help people take hold of the corporate gathering to glorify God, edify the local church, and find deep, lasting, personal satisfaction in Jesus Christ. That same year, he married his wife, Christine, with whom he shares two children.

Tim Moyer

Tim graduated from Lincoln Technical Institute with a degree in Electronics. Tim was employed as the Director of Product Engineering for East Penn Mfg. Co. Inc. for 47 years before his retirement in March 2019. Tim and his wife Dawn have been attending CCBFC for 16 years. They have been married for 50 years, have 3 children, and four grandchildren. Tim currently serves as a worship team member/leader, and an occasional DI teacher. Tim has been actively serving as a worship team leader/member for over 30 years.

The Chosen, the Called, and the Commissioned

We must recover a view of the church in light of all of Scripture, the culmination in God’s restoration of His image that has been marred. This course will help you understand the distinctions and importance between the universal and local church, the church’s mission, the proper composition of the church, and see the necessity of the church in their lives and commit to it.

Chris Von Holt

Chris has been on staff since 2016 and currently serves as Discipleship Pastor, overseeing adult ministries and the curriculum taught throughout our church. He is a graduate from Maranatha Baptist University and is pursuing his MDiv through the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
