Dear Church Family,
Some of our elders met this morning to grieve, process, and pray for the Herrlins. Throughout that time, God’s Spirit led them to see both an oversight and an opportunity.
Amid trying to make adjustments for Sunday’s worship service, we overlooked the Sunday School hour. So, out of that meeting came the collective decision to instead adjust our Discipleship Institute to gather together as one family for a time of prayer and lamenting in the Worship Center. We have been wanting to gather as a church just to pray and mourn together, so we have decided to make the DI hour a time of lament as we continue to grieve the loss of Tealson Herrlin.
This is what that will look like tomorrow:
Brothers and sisters, this is a time when God disrupts our plans and calls us as one people to come to Him. He invites us to bring our questions, our emotions, our fears, all of it to Him. While I was praying with someone on the phone Thursday after breaking this news to them, they prayed Matthew 11:28: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Let’s come tomorrow and bring our heavy burden to the Lord of Rest.
Chris Von Holt | Senior Associate Pastor
Good morning, church family.
We are monitoring today’s weather closely. As of this morning, temperatures are above freezing and roads across our area are wet but passable, with only light rain and snow mixing in. The heavier snow is still expected later this afternoon and evening, well after our morning services.
At this time, we are planning to continue with our services as scheduled.
We encourage everyone to use wisdom and make the decision that is best for your household. If you feel uncomfortable traveling, please join us online. Our team will continue to monitor conditions, and if anything changes, we will communicate updates promptly.
We look forward to worshiping together this morning—whether in person or online.
Stay safe and be blessed today.
The forecast is looking clear this weekend, praise God!
Given that, we are moving forward with our regular Sunday morning schedule on February 1, 2026. Discipleship Institute is at 8:45am and the Worship Service at 10am.
Also, the Congregational Meeting will be immediately after the service at 11:30am in the Activity Center.
We look forward to gathering with God’s people this Lord’s Day.
Greetings church!
The forecast is showing a chance of snow (again!) for this weekend. We wanted to let you know that we are monitoring the weather.
As of right now, we are moving forward with our regular Sunday morning, with Discipleship Institute at 8:45am and Worship Service at 10am. The Congregational Meeting will be immediately after at 11:30am in the Activity Center.

CONTINGENCY PLAN 1
If Sunday is canceled due to snow, we will gather Saturday afternoon for a Worship Service (exact time TBD). We will meet in the Worship Center like usual, but the balcony will be closed. Nursery will be available but not Children’s Church. In this scenario, the Congregational Meeting will be rescheduled to Sunday, February 8 after the service.

CONTINGENCY PLAN 2
If both Saturday and Sunday are snowed out, you’ll receive a pre-recorded worship set and message from Luke and Pastor Jason. As we deeply miss gathering in person, we hope it doesn’t come to this! However, we know these elements, although virtual, will aid you in individual or family worship.

A final decision will be made Friday morning with more details. Please check your emails and the website (cedarcrest.church) for further updates.
Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we try to navigate this “snowpocalypse” in a way that serves the church and honors God.
Due to inclement weather, all programs are canceled for Sunday, January 25, 2026.
A Saturday service was considered, but the pastors will be returning late from a conference, making it impractical. A Saturday service may be an option in the future when Sundays are forecasted to be snowed out well ahead of time.
The pastors are currently attending the 2026 National Founders Conference in Fort Myers, Florida (brr, right?). The theme is Make Disciples: God’s Mandate from the Home to the Ends of the Earth. They encourage you to tune in to the livestream today or tomorrow to get a taste of what they are being fed.
Canceling Discipleship Institute two weeks in a row will affect this trimester’s schedule. Watch for a possible email from your teacher regarding notes or even a recorded video lesson.
For Sunday morning, Pastor Jason has selected a past sermon—the introduction to our series on Cedar Crest’s mission and values—to aid you or your family in worship.
More information will be shared about rescheduling Amy Everett’s Commissioning Service and Child Dedication.
While we know not to intentionally forsake the gathering of the saints (Heb. 10:25), sometimes circumstances are out of our control, but always in God’s providential hands.
Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and cheerfulness as the body of Cedar Crest seeks to exalt God together even while apart.
Both Discipleship Institute and the Worship Service are CANCELED this morning due to inclement weather and freezing temperatures.
