Who We Are
Children’s Ministry exists to fulfill our church mission by helping families to learn and live the Gospel. We seek to create a fun, safe, and loving environment where children are equipped to become life-long disciples of Jesus Christ. We have a variety of ministries designed to teach our children to love the Lord and apply the truth of God’s Word to their lives.

SUNDAY MORNING PROGRAMS
BLAST OFF (Pre-K/K)
Room 101
During Blast Off, our preschoolers and kindergartners begin to experience more structure in their class time. We use Lifeway‘s Bible Studies for Life curriculum, which is built on the Levels of Biblical Learning. The 10 levels are: God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, Bible, Salvation, Creation, Church, People, Family, Community & World. Curriculum is tailored to teach each level with age-appropriate lessons and activities. For more information about Blast Off, please contact Sarah Klase at sarahklase@cedarcrest.church.
SKYROCKET (1st-3rd grade)
Chapel
In Skyrocket, we also use Lifeway’s Bible Studies for Life curriculum, which is built on the Levels of Biblical Learning. Curriculum is tailored to teach each level with age-appropriate lessons and activities. Our goal in Skyrocket is to prepare our kids for a seamless transition into the worship service when they graduate (or whenever they feel ready!). Pickup will take place in Room 101, not the Chapel.
Nursery
Nursery care is provided during all Sunday morning services for children ages 0-3. The Baby Nursery (ages 0-1) is located in Room 105, the Young Toddler Nursery (ages 1-2) is located in Room 106, and the Toddler Nursery (ages 2-3) is located in Room 107. All volunteers have approved, up-to-date child clearances.
Nursing Mother’s Room
A nursing mother’s room is available for use on Sunday mornings. It is located in the lobby across from the bathrooms outside the Worship Center.
Family Night is on Wednesday evenings and offers something for all ages, including children! Find out more about clubs here.
New Families are encouraged to show up 15 minutes early for registration.
There is no Family Night on Wednesdays December 24th and 31st for Christmas Break.

Join Our Children’s Ministry Support Team
We’re growing our Children’s Ministry Support Team—a group of caring volunteers who are willing to step in occasionally when a regular helper or teacher in Pre-K through 5th grade is unavailable. If you’re able to serve about once every three months, your flexibility makes a huge difference in helping our ministries run smoothly.
To serve in this role, team members simply complete our standard Children’s Ministry onboarding, which includes reviewing our safety policies and submitting the required clearances. We’ll guide you through every step.
If you enjoy encouraging kids, supporting families, and helping behind the scenes when it matters most, we’d love to add you to the team!

Upcoming Events
We’re so grateful to each one of our volunteers for their willingness to serve the Lord by investing in the lives of our children at Cedar Crest! December brings our annual Christmas Volunteer Appreciation day, so mark your calendars for December 14th! Stop by the table either before or after the Worship Service to receive a small gift for each volunteer and a cookie for each family member of our volunteers. You are vital to our ministry and this is our small way of saying thank you. May the Lord be glorified through your service!
Children in grades PreK – 5th are invited to participate in a performance of “Angels We Have Heard on High” during the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service this year! We will be practicing the song with all children in our Children’s Church programs over the next month, as well as in our Wednesday Clubs programs. Additional time commitments would be as follows:
- We will have a brief sound-check practice in the Sanctuary on 12/21 after the Worship Service.
- On Christmas Eve, your child would need to be at church at 6 pm.
We will be having a child dedication on Sunday, January 18th at the beginning of the service.
At least one parent must be a member of Cedar Crest BFC to participate in child dedication. Parents who its their first time dedicating a child must attend a short class on January 11 at 8:45am.
Kids ages 7-12 will spend a weekend enjoying delicious meals in the dining hall, exciting games in Victory Hall, and outdoor fun regardless of whether or not there is snow! Additionally, throughout the day there will be engaging Bible Lessons and devotionals from God’s word! The weekend kicks off with registration in Fireside Hall on Friday and ends in Victory Hall after lunch on Sunday with pickup between 1:00-2:00pm.

- $139 per camper.

New Check-In Guidelines For Families & Guests
In an effort to avoid interruption of our children’s programs and create a more consistent environment for our nursery age children, we are introducing the following guidelines for check-in and drop-off:
- Please check-in your children BEFORE the program begins.
- If you are bringing a guest, please be sure to arrive 15 min. early so they can register in a timely manner.
- On Sunday mornings we ask that you DO NOT wait to check-in your Pre-K – 3rd grade children during dismissal from the Worship service. This adds additional traffic in the halls while we escort the children to their classrooms, delays their participation, and compromises the attendance process.
- Starting in December, check-in and drop-off opportunities will close 15 min. after the program has started (nursery children are an exception). If you arrive more than 15 minutes late to a program, kindly keep your child with you for the duration of the program.
- If you arrive early for the Sunday Worship Service, Sunday School will still be in session. For nursery aged children, please wait to drop off your children until 9:45am.

At CCBFC, we occasionally take photos or videos of children during programs and events for promotional and ministry-related purposes. If you prefer that your child not be photographed or recorded, please let us know. We will make every effort to honor your request and ensure your preferences are respected.

What Happens on Sunday?
The Bible clearly illustrates that the corporate gathering of believers includes men, women, and children (Josh. 8:35, Eph. 6-12). With that in mind, our order of service is designed to have the whole family together for the whole Worship Service.
Children ages PreK – 3rd Grade will stay with their families in the Worship Service until the start of the sermon. At that time, they will be dismissed to Children’s Church (Blast Off & Skyrocket).

Children’s check-in will be open from 9:45am to 10:15am (or at 8:15am during Sunday School hour), even after the Worship Service has started (10am). Children’s check-in is located right inside the flagpole entrance of the church.
Check-In Reminders
- Always check in your child first before sending them to any program.
- First-time attending? Please register in advance so we can welcome your child smoothly.
Pickup Reminders
- Parent tag required for pickup every time.
- If another parent/guardian is picking up, they must have the matching tag.
- Helpful tips from parents:
- Take a photo of the tag and text it to the other parent.
- Wear the tag on a lanyard.
- Attach it to a Bible, purse, or bag.
- No tag? Please be prepared to show ID.
We fully expect disruptions from children as they get used to staying in the Worship Service. However, if you or your child ever gets uncomfortable and needs a break, please feel free to step out into the overflow area located in the Hub outside near the lobby, where you will still be able to watch and listen to the service.
If you are outside during dismissal, we ask that you please bring your child to the assigned meeting place for each class. The Skyrocket students (1st Grade – 5th Grade) are located in the lobby area and the Blast Off students (PreK-Kindergarten) are located in the Education Wing Hall (near the bathrooms).
If there is no adult available to sit with your children, you can bring them to the back overflow area in the Worship Center (by the door closest to the bathroom). Our Blast Off and Skyrocket leaders will be sitting there and will be able to sit with your child until dismissal.
Or, depending on your role, consider how your child could serve alongside you.
We encourage parents to have their children use the bathroom before the Worship Service begins.
